City University of San Francisco School of Art Appoints Tianyu Wang as Visiting Professor

The School of Art at City University of San Francisco is pleased to announce that tuba player Tianyu Wang will serve as Visiting Professor in Music, beginning January 12, 2025.

Wang earned his Bachelor's degree from the Central Conservatory of Music, and his Diploma and Master's degree from Indiana University. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Tuba Performance at the University of Cincinnati. He has served as Principal Tuba of the China Oriental Symphony Orchestra and the New Jiuzhou Symphony Orchestra, and currently holds the position of Principal Tuba with the Indiana University Conductor's Orchestra.

His accolades include First Prize at the 2024 MWRTEC Solo Competition (hosted by the International Tuba Euphonium Association) and Third Prize at the 2019 Jinbao Tuba Solo Competition.

Wang has performed extensively across China and the United States, with appearances at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, Indiana University, the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, and the Wuhan International Low Brass Festival.

He has been a member of the International Tuba Euphonium Association (ITEA) since 2023.
